Human Oversight and AI Control

Human Oversight and AI Control
Human Oversight and AI Control

Course Description

A practical, risk-aware primer on keeping people meaningfully in control of AI systems. You’ll learn when to place humans in or on the loop, how to design effective overrides and failsafes, and how to assign accountability and monitoring so high-stakes decisions are safe, auditable, and compliant.

Who Should Take This Course

Managers, team leads, product owners, risk & compliance officers, data/ML practitioners, operations leaders, and L&D professionals rolling out AI in real workflows. Best for organisations seeking concrete guardrails and governance patterns rather than theory.

Prerequisites

No prior experience needed. Basic familiarity with AI terminology is helpful but optional.

What You Will Learn

  • Differentiate Human-in-the-Loop and Human-on-the-Loop models and select the right pattern by risk and context.
  • Design and document override mechanisms (e.g., kill switch, rollback, safe modes) and test them effectively.
  • Define clear accountability for high-stakes decisions using roles (e.g., RACI), audit trails, and decision logs.
  • Set up continuous monitoring with meaningful indicators and establish escalation paths across business and technical teams.
  • Translate governance into lightweight SOPs and checklists that operationalize human oversight day to day.
